Backend Course Trainers

We are looking for experienced and qualified Backend Course Trainers to deliver practical, project-based, and employment-focused training to learners in an advanced digital skills development program.
The selected trainers will be responsible for delivering technical training, guiding practical projects, assessing learner progress, and supporting participants in developing job-ready skills.

• Position: Backend Course Trainer
• Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
• Duration: 3 Months
• Engagement: Short-Term, Part-Time
• Delivery: Blended – In-Person and Virtual
• Weekly Commitment: 15 instructional hours

• Important: Applications are invited only for the specializations listed above. Laravel/PHP is not included in this recruitment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Selected trainers will be expected to:
1. Deliver Technical Training

• Conduct structured and practical training sessions.
• Deliver 3 in-person sessions and 2 virtual sessions per week, each lasting 3 hours.
• Explain technical concepts clearly and in a practical, learner-friendly manner.
• Use demonstrations, coding exercises, labs, assignments, and real-world examples.
• Support learners with different levels of technical experience.

2. Facilitate Practical & Project-Based Learning

• Design and deliver hands-on technical exercises.
• Guide learners through individual and team-based projects.
• Support learners in developing APIs, working with databases, authentication, testing, debugging, and version control.
• Conduct code reviews, testing reviews, technical demonstrations, and project assessments.
• Provide guidance on capstone projects and practical assignments.

3. Assess & Support Learners

• Prepare quizzes, assignments, practical assessments, and competency-based evaluations.
• Monitor attendance, participation, and learner progress.
• Provide timely and constructive technical feedback.
• Identify learners who require additional support and provide appropriate guidance.

4. Support Employment Readiness

• Help learners develop practical, job-ready technical skills.
• Guide learners in building GitHub profiles and technical portfolios.
• Support technical interview preparation and mock assessments.
• Reinforce professional software-development practices, teamwork, communication, and workplace expectations.

5. Reporting & Coordination

• Prepare lesson plans and training materials.
• Maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
• Submit required weekly training and progress reports.
• Participate in trainer coordination and curriculum-alignment activities.
• Communicate learner challenges and recommended interventions.

SPECIALIZATION REQUIREMENTS
Node.js

• Applicants should have strong practical experience with:
• JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• Node.js
• REST APIs
• Backend application development

• Backend architecture and deployment
• Experience integrating backend services with React/Next.js is an advantage.

Golang

• Applicants should have strong practical experience with:

C# / .NET

• Applicants should have strong practical experience with:
• C#
• Object-Oriented Programming

• Enterprise application development

QA / Test Automation
Applicants should have strong practical experience with:

• Software Quality Assurance
• Test planning and test-case development
• Manual testing
• API testing
• Test automation
• Regression testing
• Defect identification and reporting
• Test documentation
• Testing frameworks and tools
• Git and CI/continuous testing practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Applicants should meet the following requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Demonstrated professional experience in the relevant specialization.
• At least 2 years of relevant technical, professional, teaching, mentoring, or training experience is preferred.
• Strong practical experience developing, testing, deploying, or maintaining software applications.
• Strong knowledge of relevant technologies, frameworks, and development practices.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and practically.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to deliver both in-person and virtual training.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Experience with project-based or practical technical training is an advantage.
• Ability to provide technical mentorship and constructive feedback.
• Availability for the full three-month assignment.

TRAINING COMMITMENT

• The training schedule will consist of:
• In-Person: 3 sessions per week × 3 hours
• Virtual: 2 sessions per week × 3 hours
• Total: 15 instructional hours per week
• Trainers are expected to be available consistently throughout the three-month assignment.
