Senior IT Administrator (Backend Systems)

We are looking for an experienced IT Administrator to own the stability, security and day-to-day health of the backend systems behind the our company Marketplace, rider app and delivery platform. You will be the main technical contact for the business teams and the link between operations and our software provider.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and troubleshoot backend systems, servers, databases and the platform infrastructure.

• Monitor system availability and performance, and resolve incidents quickly, with root-cause follow-up.

• Manage user accounts, roles, permissions and access controls across marketplace, delivery and admin systems.

• Manage and maintain end-to-end product catalog integrity by auditing, updating, and publishing accurate item data (names, prices, images, stock, categories)

• Run and test regular data backups, and own the disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

• Maintain data security, covering patching, access reviews, audit logs and compliance with data-handling policies.

• Manage the integration between the marketplace and the delivery system, so that orders reliably create shipments.

• Support staff, vendors and customers with IT-related issues, including incident logging and tracking.

• Coordinate with the software provider on defects, enhancements, releases and technical incidents.

• Maintain IT documentation, including system configurations, procedures and an asset and license inventory.

• Support IT purchases, such as devices, phones for riders and network equipment.

• Prepare regular reports on system uptime, incidents and improvement recommendations.

Requirements

• Experience in IT administration and backend system management (senior level, 5+ years)

• Strong working knowledge of databases (e.g. MySQL/PostgreSQL), Linux/Windows servers, cloud or hosting environments, and networking basics.

• Experience with backup, monitoring, security and access management practices.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

• Good communication in English and Amharic, and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities with limited supervision.
