Job Summary

The Senior Reporting Analyst is a key player on Hatch Africa's Reporting and Data Engineering team, serving as a critical analytical partner to business leadership across the organization — including Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and other functions. The analyst is expected to go beyond "what happened" to explain why it happened and what should be done next, using programming tools such as Python for statistical analysis, modeling, and interactive reporting, and applying Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate interpretation, narrative generation, and stakeholder-facing communication of insights.

The analyst is expected to build interactive, code-based reporting solutions where they offer greater analytical depth, flexibility, or automation than a conventional dashboard.

This position also offers the opportunity to support business intelligence initiatives across Hatch Africa's five other markets, contributing to scalable, high-impact analytics across the organization.

Key Performance Indicators

• At least 70% of reporting deliverables include interpretive, recommendation-driven insight (trend, driver, or rootcause analysis) rather than purely descriptive dashboards, within 6 months of transition
• 90% of standard reporting and analysis requests actioned (delivered or meaningfully progressed) within 5 business days
• 30% reduction in ad hoc/manual reporting requests within 12 months, driven by proactive, automated, and selfservice analytical tools
• 100% confidence in underlying data quality maintained by business leadership, with at least 50% of leadership stakeholders actively using Python-based interactive tools or LLM-assisted insight summaries within 6 months of rollout

Role Responsibilities

Verifying Analytical & Functional Requirements

• Partner with business leaders across functions (e.g., Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations) to understand business goals and translate them into analytical questions, not just reporting specifications
• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions to define KPIs, hypotheses, and the level of analytical depth needed (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive)
• Collaborate with stakeholders to validate the relevance, accuracy, and interpretive usefulness of existing reports and analyses
• Ensure alignment of new analysis and reporting work with organizational goals and processes

Data Analysis & Interpretation

• Use Python (e.g., pandas, numpy, statistical and visualization libraries) to analyze operational and business data across functions — identifying trends, drivers, anomalies, segments, and forecasts
• Move beyond surface-level metrics to explain the “why” behind performance, and translate findings into clear, actionable business narratives
• Apply statistical methods and exploratory data analysis to validate hypotheses raised by business stakeholders across functions
• Design and prepare datasets and data models that support both interactive reporting and deeper analytical work Building Interactive Reports & Tools
• Design and develop interactive, code-based reporting tools and applications using Python (e.g., Streamlit, Dash, Plotly, or similar frameworks), using PowerBI where it is the most effective medium
• Maintain and enhance existing reports and tools to improve clarity, functionality, interactivity, and performance
• Apply strong data visualization principles to ensure outputs are intuitive, interactive, and action-oriented
• Monitor usage of reports and tools and iterate based on user feedback and changing business needs
• Collaborate as needed with external technical support or internal team members to deliver reporting and analysis on time

Training and User Rollout

• Support user adoption by delivering training, job aids, and documentation for new analytical tools and interactive reports
• Provide one-on-one and group coaching for team members across business functions, including how to interpret analytical output
• Troubleshoot and resolve user questions, ensuring high engagement with interactive reports and analytical tools
• Advocate for best practices in data interpretation and evidence-based decision-making

Other Responsibilities

• Support analytical and reporting needs for other departments and Hatch Africa markets as required
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across all reporting and analytical activities
• Contribute to documentation of reporting processes, standards, and templates, including Python code and analytical methodology
• Stay current on BI tools, Python libraries, LLM capabilities, and industry trends to continuously improve analytical and reporting capabilities
• Mentor junior analysts in analytical thinking, Python-based analysis, and effective use of LLM tools, contributing toa culture of knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Statistics, Data Science, Information Technology)
• 2 to 4 years of proven experience as a Reporting, Data, or Business Intelligence Analyst, with demonstrated analytical (not only dashboard-building) responsibilities
• Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib/plotly); experience building interactive, code-based reporting tools (e.g., Streamlit, Dash) is strongly preferred
• Solid grounding in statistical and analytical methods — trend analysis, segmentation, forecasting, and root-cause analysis
• Working knowledge of PowerBI, applied selectively alongside programmatic reporting rather than as the default tool.
• Practical experience or strong interest in applying LLM tools to data interpretation, insight generation, or reporting workflows
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear business narratives
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in presenting analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
