Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia (HFE) is a pioneering organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of obstetric fistula and the improvement of maternal health in Ethiopia. Founded on the principles of compassion and excellence, HFE is committed to restoring the health, dignity, and hope of women affected by obstetric fistula through comprehensive treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs. One of HFE's key initiatives is Project Zero, which aims to achieve the eradication of obstetric fistula woreda by woreda, ensuring that no woman suffers unnecessarily from this preventable and treatable condition.
Project Zero background
Project Zero is a woreda based comprehensive maternal health and obstetric fistula prevention initiative aimed at eliminating untreated obstetric fistula through community awareness, early identification, strengthened maternal healthcare services, mentorship, surveillance, and system strengthening. The project works closely with Woreda Health Offices, health facilities, communities, and Hamlin Fistula treatment centers to improve maternal health outcomes and ensure sustainability. This project started as a pilot project in 2023 in Ale and Didessa woreda in south western Oromia, Illuababor, Seharti in Tigray, Fedis woreda in Eastern Oromia, Semen Bench woreda in South Western Ethiopia, currently rolling out in Arbegona in Sidama Region and Gutazer Gedebano Welene woreda in Central Ethiopia.

Experience in non-governmental organizations is required

Job Summary
The Data Analyst position of project Zero is crucial in transforming complex project related data into actionable insights. As a Health Data Analyst, you will leverage your statistical and analytical expertise to support improved project outcomes, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making in project implementation sites. This dynamic role requires a multiple of technical insight, knowledge of healthcare systems, and a keen understanding of data privacy and security regulations. You will work closely with project-Zero teams, HFE program staff, M&E & IT staff, to ensure that data-driven strategies are effectively implemented and maintained. The data analyst is expected to be passionate about harnessing the power of data to enhance project effectiveness and efficiency, and should possess strong analytical skills coupled with attention to detail, this job might be a perfect fit for you.
Major Duties and Responsibilities of Data Analyst include the following, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain project databases and data management systems to ensure accurate, secure, and timely collection, storage, and retrieval of project data.
- Design, review, and standardize data collection tools, reporting templates, databases, and data quality assurance mechanisms.
- Conduct routine data cleaning, validation, verification, and quality checks to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy of project data.
- Analyze project data using appropriate statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Excel, or other relevant software) and generate descriptive and analytical reports.
- Produce regular monitoring and evaluation reports, dashboards, data summaries, and performance indicators to inform project implementation and decision-making.
- Support baseline, midline, end line, feasibility, implementation, and impact evaluations through data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of findings.
- Monitor key project indicators related to maternal health, obstetric fistula prevention, referral systems, community awareness, health facility readiness, and service utilization.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, ethical standards, and organizational data management policies.
- Provide technical support and capacity building to project staff and data collectors on data collection procedures, data quality assurance, reporting requirements, and data utilization.
- Conduct routine data quality assessments (DQAs) and provide feedback to project teams to improve data quality and reporting performance.
- Support donor reporting requirements by compiling, analyzing, and validating project performance data and indicators.
- Assist in documenting lessons learned, best practices, success stories, and evidence generated through Project Zero implementation.
- Supporting treatment data collection and analysis of the Addis Ababa Fistula hospital and the treatment centers.

Key competencies and professional expertise required:
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, ODK)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and DHIS
- Strong understanding of healthcare policies and regulations
