Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer acts as the technical anchor and engineering lead across EthSwitch digital platforms (Central Billing Platform - CBS, Interoperable Merchant Payments - and Merchant Web Portals and so on).

The role oversees end-to-end software architecture: bridging responsive mobile/web frontends with Spring Boot backend microservices and automated DevOps delivery pipelines. Accountabilities include maintaining 24/7/ switch uptime, leading incident triage, mentoring developers, running live stakeholder demos, and enforcing national regulatory security standards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Mobile & Web Application Engineering

• Architect and maintain production-grade cross-platform apps using Flutter & Dart for Android, iOS, and smart POS terminals.
• Design and develop merchant administration portals and operations dashboards using Angular (v15+), TypeScript, RxJS, and Angular Material, with exposure to modern web frameworks (React, Vue, or Flutter Web).
• Optimize client-side rendering performance, frame rates (60/120 fps), memory footprint, offline caching, and state management across diverse form factors.
• Implement native platform channels (Kotlin/Swift) and modular Clean Architecture / MVVM patterns.

B. Backend Microservices & Switch Integrations

• Design and consume high-throughput RESTful APIs and switch connectors using Java and Spring Boot.
• Integrate token-based authentication and authorization architectures (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Keycloak, JWT with refresh token rotation).
• Implement data persistence, local storage, and caching using PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, and SQLite.
• Handle edge-case network resilience: offline fallbacks, exponential backoff retries, and network connectivity recovery.

C. DevOps, CI/CD & Production Infrastructure

• Design and automate end-to-end CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) for web builds and mobile APK/AAB compilation.
• Configure and administer production Linux hosts (RHEL/Ubuntu), systemd application daemons, and Nginx reverse proxies (SSL termination, rate limiting, and HTTP/2 optimizations).
• Oversee containerization with Docker and container orchestration for supporting services.
• Manage mobile release engineering: production keystores, ProGuard/R8 obfuscation, compile-time secret injection (--dart-define), and split-per-ABI packaging.
• Establish production observability with structured logging, health checks, crash reporting, and real-time alerts.

D. 24/7 Production Operations & Switch Reliability

• Act as Tier-3 engineering lead for high-severity (Sev-1 / Sev-2) switch payment dropouts, Hosted Payment Page (HPP) timeouts, and gateway anomalies.
• Prepare technical Change Requests (CRs), risk assessments, and rollback procedures for the Change Advisory Board (CAB); execute zero-downtime Blue/Green maintenance windows.
• Maintain cryptographic lifecycle: domain SSL certificates, CA trust stores, keystores, and SHA-256 TLS certificate pinning rotation schedules.
• Participate in scheduled Disaster Recovery (DR) failover drills, multi-node load balancing tests, and automated backup validation.
• Resolve settlement exceptions: investigate inter-bank discrepancies, pending transaction anomalies, and communication mismatches between core switch engines and member bank connectors.
• Support sandbox onboarding and technical integration for member commercial banks, MFIs, and PSPs.

E. Security, INSA Compliance & Governance

• Enforce client-side protections: encrypted storage (flutter_secure_storage), root/jailbreak detection, screen-overlay defenses, anti-tampering, and anti-repackaging checks.
• Remediate vulnerabilities identified by internal penetration tests, INSA audits, and automated static/dynamic scanning tools (MobSF, SonarQube, OWASP ZAP).
• Enforce strict secret segregation: zero hardcoded credentials, API keys, or private IP addresses in release binaries.

F. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead code reviews, enforce SOLID design principles, and uphold Clean Architecture standards.
• Plan, organize, and lead live end-of-sprint demo sessions and product milestone showcases for Product Owners, Department Managers, and Member Bank integration teams.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through pair programming, structured code reviews, and technical workshops.
• Maintain engineering documentation: Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), system workflow diagrams, deployment runbooks, and API specs.

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields of studies
• 6/4 years of relevant work experience out of which 2 years in professional positions
