Employment: Full-time, long-term position

Experience: 2+ years preferred; strong junior candidates are welcome

About the Position

Environiqa Engineering PLC is looking for a motivated, trustworthy, and technically capable individual to join our growing team.

We are seeking someone with a combination of GIS, digital field data collection, data management, and practical IT skills. A strong IT background is particularly valuable, and candidates who can demonstrate the ability to learn GIS technologies quickly are encouraged to apply.

Beyond technical qualifications, we are looking for someone dependable, resourceful, and interested in building a long-term career with the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, organize, and maintain GIS datasets using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar software.
  • Support digital field data collection using ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar applications.
  • Configure digital forms, attribute fields, dropdown lists, and data collection workflows.
  • Support GPS/GNSS-based field surveys and geographic asset mapping.
  • Clean, validate, organize, and manage spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Work with geodatabases, Excel spreadsheets, photographs, and other digital records.
  • Assist with web GIS platforms, including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Configure and troubleshoot computers, Android devices, tablets, mobile applications, and field equipment.
  • Provide basic IT support, including software installation, connectivity, user accounts, data backup, and file management.
  • Prepare maps, reports, and progress summaries.
  • Support and occasionally supervise field data collection activities.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, GIS, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related field.
  • Preferably 2 or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Practical experience with GIS software and/or digital data collection tools.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Excel, file organization, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of geographic coordinates, maps, and GPS/GNSS technology.
  • Ability to work independently and solve technical problems.
  • Good communication skills in English and Amharic.

Candidates with strong IT skills and some GIS or data collection experience are particularly encouraged to apply. We value practical ability and willingness to learn as much as formal qualifications.

Additional Skills That Would Be an Advantage

  • ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, ArcGIS Online, or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Computer networking, system administration, or database management.
  • SQL, Python, or basic scripting and automation.
  • Web GIS, web application development, or GIS APIs.
  • Experience with GPS/GNSS receivers and mobile mapping equipment.
  • Experience with infrastructure mapping, asset inventories, or large-scale field surveys.
  • Experience managing mobile devices and troubleshooting offline data synchronization.

Personal Qualities We Value

We are particularly interested in someone who is:

  • Trustworthy and discreet, especially when handling confidential company and client information.
  • Reliable, honest, and accountable for assigned responsibilities.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Resourceful and capable of solving problems independently.
  • Quick to learn and comfortable adapting to new technologies.
  • Willing to work both in the office and in the field.
  • Interested in long-term employment and professional growth with Environiqa.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 30–45-minute practical assessment designed to evaluate their actual technical abilities rather than qualifications alone.

The assessment may cover:

  • Basic GIS data editing and map preparation.
  • Digital field data collection and form configuration.
  • Excel data cleaning and organization.
  • Basic IT troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Candidates are not expected to be experts in every area. We will give considerable weight to practical skills, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to work with modern GIS, geospatial, and data collection technologies.
  • Practical experience across engineering, infrastructure, and environmental projects.
  • Opportunities to develop technical skills in GIS, IT, web mapping, and data management.
  • A supportive working environment with room for increasing responsibility.
  • Potential for long-term career development within Environiqa.
