Job Title: ATM Service Technician

Location: Assigned Branches / Districts / Field Sites

Reports to: Field Maintenance Engineer / Maintenance Service Manager

  1. Job Summary:

The ATM Service Technician performs on-site support, basic troubleshooting, preventive maintenance assistance, replacement support, cleaning, inspection, and service documentation for ATMs at branches and field locations. The role works under the guidance of field maintenance engineers, senior engineers, or supervisors. The position supports service continuity by responding to assigned incidents, performing safe maintenance activities, reporting accurate fault information, and coordinating with the portal, branch, workshop, and spare parts teams.

  1. Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Review assigned tickets, ATM location, fault description, priority level, contact person, and required tools before field visit.
    2. Prepare basic tools, cleaning materials, PPE, service forms, test cards, and approved spare parts before field visit.
    3. Confirm site access requirements, travel route, and support needs with the field engineer or supervisor.
    4. Report any missing tools, parts, safety materials, or unclear assignment before leaving for the site.
    5. Assist in checking ATM power, UPS status, communication devices, printer condition, card reader condition, screen status, and visible alarms.
  2. Perform first-level diagnosis using approved checklists, error messages, portal information, and supervisor guidance.

  3. Support cleaning, reseating, simple adjustment, cable checking, and module replacement where authorized.

  4. Escalate faults beyond approved technician level to the field engineer, senior engineer, or workshop team.

  5. Assist in scheduled preventive maintenance according to the approved PM checklist.

  6. Clean dust, paper residue, card reader path, printer path, cabinet area, air vents, and accessible mechanisms safely.

  7. Check consumables, printer paper condition, visible cable condition, cabinet condition, labels, and external cleanliness.

  8. Report abnormal noise, loose parts, repeated jams, overheating, poor site condition, or signs of damage.

  9. Handle electronic boards, screens, sensors, cables, printers, card readers, and electromechanical assemblies carefully during removal or replacement.

  10. Use ESD protection when handling sensitive electronic components.

  11. Avoid unauthorized repair, forced adjustment, or component substitution outside approved technician tasks.

  12. Package and label removed modules correctly for return to the workshop or store.

  13. Assist field engineers in replacing approved modules and restoring ATM service.

  14. Support simple tests after repair such as card reading, receipt printing, screen display, keypad response, and communication verification.

  15. Observe service restoration steps and report remaining issues clearly.

  16. Avoid closing a service call until the assigned engineer or supervisor confirms testing requirements.

  17. Communicate politely with branch staff and provide basic service status without disclosing sensitive technical or security information.

  18. Follow branch security rules, access procedures, and supervisor instructions at all times.

  19. Keep the service area clean and avoid disturbing branch operations unnecessarily.

  20. Refer complaints, repeated faults, or operational concerns to the assigned engineer or supervisor.

  21. Use PPE, follow electrical safety instructions, and avoid unsafe work on powered equipment.

  22. Follow lockout/tagout procedures when instructed by the engineer or supervisor.

  23. Protect tools, keys, test cards, removed parts, service forms, and company property from loss or misuse.

  24. Report accidents, near misses, unsafe site conditions, damaged tools, or security concerns immediately.

  25. Record service visit details including ATM ID, location, fault description, action taken, parts handled, and test result.

  26. Submit completed service forms, PM checklists, and parts return information to the responsible engineer or supervisor.

  27. Provide accurate fault information for ticket updates and workshop repair notes.

  28. Report unresolved issues, repeated faults, missing parts, and service delays without hiding the problem.

  29. Work closely with field engineers, portal officers, spare parts staff, workshop teams, and branch representatives.

  30. Assist in collecting or delivering defective modules, repaired parts, tools, and service documents.

  31. Support field teams during emergency incidents, weekend service, installation support, or high-volume PM assignments.

  32. Share practical observations that help engineers identify root causes.

  33. Basic knowledge of ATM hardware, peripheral devices, electronic components, electromechanical assemblies, and field service procedures.

  34. Ability to follow instructions, use tools safely, complete checklists, and report facts accurately.

  35. Good customer service behavior, teamwork, discipline, and respect for branch procedures.

  36. Attention to detail in cleaning, testing, labeling, parts handling, and service documentation.

  37. Willingness to learn from engineers, trainers, and practical field assignments.

  38. Timely attendance to assigned service calls and preventive maintenance activities.

  39. Accuracy and completeness of PM checklists, service forms, and parts return notes.

  40. Compliance with safety, ESD, PPE, access, and tool control requirements.

  41. Quality of support provided to field engineers and branch teams.

  42. Reduction of avoidable service delays caused by incomplete preparation or poor documentation.

  43. Completed field service support forms and preventive maintenance checklists.

  44. Properly labeled defective modules and returned parts.

  45. Accurate reports on observed faults, site conditions, safety issues, and remaining problems.

  46. Clean, safe, and organized work area after every field activity.

  47. Demonstrated learning progress through training attendance and practical work performance.

  48. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  1. Qualifications & Experience:
  • BSC Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field,
  • Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience for BSC in ATM maintenance, electronics repair, or field service,
  • Minimum 4 years of experience for Diploma in ATM maintenance, electronics repair, or related technical field.
