Hoblen is a multi-tenant real estate platform connecting property developers, real estate agents, and customers through property listings, lead management, and real-time chat. We’re building a modern TypeScript/Angular stack to power builders, agents, and buyers across Ethiopia.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Junior–Mid Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Addis Ababa. You’ll work across our Node.js/Express backend and Angular frontends, shipping features end-to-end — from API design through to the UI our builders, agents, and customers use every day.

This is a great role for someone who wants hands-on ownership, works well in a small team, and is looking to grow their skills across the full stack.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain features across our backend (Node.js, Express, TypeScript, MongoDB/Mongoose) and our Angular frontends

• Implement REST APIs following our layered architecture

• Build UI components and features across the builder and agent portal, customer portal, and admin portal

• Work on real-time features — Socket.IO-based chat and notifications

• Write and maintain packages shared across the stack in our monorepo (pnpm + Turborepo)

• Debug and fix issues end-to-end, from database queries to UI behavior

• Participate in code reviews and collaborate closely with the rest of the engineering team

What We’re Looking For

• 1–3 years of professional software development experience (we’re open to strong candidates at either end of that range)

• Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals

• Experience with Node.js and a backend framework (Express or similar)

• Experience with a modern frontend framework — Angular preferred; React or Vue also considered

• Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases (MongoDB a plus)

• Understanding of REST API design and HTTP fundamentals

• Comfortable with Git-based workflows

• Comfortable writing tests and working test-first, with a testing framework such as Jest or Jasmine/Karma

• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a small, fast-moving team

• Based in, or willing to relocate to, Addis Ababa

Nice to Have

• MongoDB/Mongoose experience

• Angular 17/18 (standalone components, signals)

• Real-time systems (Socket.IO or WebSockets)

• NgRx or another state management library

• Monorepo tooling (Turborepo, Nx, or similar)

• Interest or background in real estate / proptech
