What We Do
Ethiopian Capital Market Authority is established by Capital Market Proclamation No 1248/2021 as an autonomous Federal Regulatory Authority. One of the major objectives of ECMA is to ensure the existence of a capital market environment in which securities can be issued and traded in an orderly, fair, and efficient manner. ECMA, as a regulatory authority, grants licenses to any person to operate as a security exchange, derivative exchange, security depository and clearing company, capital market service provider, over-the-counter trading facility, or any other activity deemed by ECMA as a regulated activity under its jurisdiction. ECMA regulates and oversees trading in primary and secondary markets of securities, the use of electronic trading platforms that deal with securities and gives recognition and oversees the activities of self-regulatory organizations.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The job holder supports the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software applications that support various functions within ECMA, working under the guidance of senior IT staff and in line with approved requirements, standards, and procedures.
- Support the gathering, analysis, and documentation of system requirements in collaboration with business stakeholders and senior IT staff.
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications using approved programming languages, frameworks, and development standards.
- Assist in designing and developing user interfaces, application components, databases, and other system functionalities under the guidance of senior developers.
- Support the development and integration of APIs and interfaces with existing systems, databases, and other applications.
- Write and maintain clean, reusable, secure, and well-documented code in accordance with established coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and resolution of identified software defects and performance issues.
- Prepare and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance test cases and document test results and identified issues.
- Support application deployment, updates, configuration, and routine maintenance in accordance with approved change and release procedures.
- Provide basic technical support for applications, investigate reported issues, resolve routine problems, and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff.
- Monitor application performance and assist in identifying opportunities for system optimization and improvement.
- Maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, user guides, support notes, change records, and other relevant documentation.
- Use version control and other approved development tools to manage source code and support effective software development practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and keep up to date with relevant software development technologies, tools, and practices.
- Perform other related duties and assigned tasks as directed by the supervisor, in support of the department’s objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or above in Information Technology, Software Engineering, information science or a field related to the Job function from an Accredited or recognized learning institution.
1-2 years of relevant experience
Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies
Relevant training or certification in software development, full stack development, web application development, database management, cloud fundamentals, or software testing is desirable.
